| 1922 M.A., Assoc.M. Inst.C.E., Associate I.E.E., Mechanical Engineer, Whittlesford, near Cambridge, and Engineering Laboratory, Cambridge; b. 1876; s. of James Gordon of Liverpool; m. Elsie, eldest d. of Andrew Walker of Glasgow. Ed. Cheltenham College; Trinity College, Cambridge. Graduated in Science, 1893, and Engineering, 1899. Apprenticed to [[Neilson, Reid and Co]]., Glasgow. Then worked in Locomotive Department, [[Highland Railway]]. Assistant Locomotive Superintendent, [[East Indian Railway]], 1903-7. In 1908 joined Engineering Departmental Staff in Cambridge University; Demonstrator in Engineering; also Engineer in charge of all University buildings. War Services.—Two years Assistant Inspector of Munition Areas, Ministry of Munitions, then transferred to War Office as Technical Assistant to Chief Mechanical Engineer till end of 1918.
