1894 Description of 28 cm Hontoria guns and their mountings
fitted in the three belted cruisers built by the Sociedad Anonima de los Astilleros del Nervion,
who also constructed the guns. T. Firth and Sons, Limited, Sheffield, supplied the steel.  The mountings were made by Sir Joseph Whitworth and Co., Limited, Openshaw.<ref>Engineering 1894/08/24</ref>. 1894 Description of 28 cm Hontoria guns and their mountings fitted in the three belted cruisers built by the Sociedad Anonima de los Astilleros del Nervion, who also constructed the guns. T. Firth and Sons, Limited, Sheffield, supplied the steel. The mountings were made by Sir Joseph Whitworth and Co., Limited, Openshaw.[1].
