1861 A foundry (the second) was established in Kirkintilloch when [[Alexander Smith (2)|Alexander Smith]] opened the "Star Foundry" in Southbank Road.
 
1867 It was purchased by the locally well-known firm of '''Cameron and Roberton''' who renamed it "South Bank Iron Works", although it remained the "Star Foundry" in local parlance for the rest of its life.
 
For most of its 120 years it was best known for the manufacture of commodities in the category of "Rainwater Goods" - drains, gutters, pipes and pipe fittings.
 
1899 Private company.
 
1923 Patent - An improved protractor.
 
1937 Listed Exhibitor - British Industries Fair.  Meehanite High Duty Iron Castings, both heat treated and as cast.  Rainwater Pipes.  Heads and Gutters.  Soil, Drain and Hot Water Pipes and Connections.  (Stand Nos. B.909 and B.810) <ref>[[1937 British Industries Fair]] Page 345 </ref>
 
1947 William Hamil, Head Moulding Foreman, Cameron and Robertson Ltd., Kirkintilloch, was awarded the British Empire Medal.<ref>The London Gazette  6 June 1947</ref>
 
1956 Cameron and Roberton joined [[Federated Foundries]] then and in 1965 they were taken over by [[Allied Ironfounders|Allied Foundries]] and consequently that company joined [[Glynwed]] in 1969.<ref>J. Gilroy</ref>
 
1961 Iron founders, producing soil pipe and fittings; drain pipe and fittings; high grade engineering castings of all types.  400 employees. <ref>[[1961 Dun and Bradstreet KBE]]</ref>
