Edinburgh
1923 Station constructed by Edinburgh Corporation with an initial installation of three 12·5MW turbo-alternators and eight 80,000 lb per hour boilers
1926 a fourth 12·5 MW set was added
1927 Selected for use under the Central Scotland Electricity Scheme
1930 Two 31·25MW sets were added
1938 A 30MW set was added
Another, smaller set, transferred from an older station, raised the installed capacity to a total of 149MW.
It was then decided to dismantle the three 12·5MW sets and eight boilers and replaced them with two 60MW turbo-alternators and two boiler units which were installed in 1950.
