Dalkeith Brewery, Midlothian

The establishment of the business is difficult to date precisely. At the time of the business's first incorporation, it was said to have been established for over 50 years.

1889 McLennan and Urquhart Limited was registered, with capital of £70,000, to purchase, carry on, and extend the business of McLennan and Urquhart at the Dalkeith Brewery, which had been acquired from them by Mr. Alfred H. Beal, of London. The former partners, William Urquhart and James McLennan, retained a substantial interest in the business through their shareholdings, and with Urquhart becoming chairman of the board of directors and McLennan a director.[1]

1891 The company was dissolved and the business presumably reverted to the original partners.[2]
