The British Government and the Consett Iron Co funded the establishment of a new steel company at Jarrow on site part of which had been the old Palmers Iron and Steel plant and part the shipyard[1]
1938 Company incorporated[2]
1939 A Morgan-designed semi-continuous mill was being installed; it was expected to be in operation in 1940[3]
1940 The new rolling mill was in operation; the company was under the control of Consett Iron Co[4]
1947 Consett Iron Co acquired the whole share capital of the company[5]
