- * Sumac Skivers - An inferior quality of leather, made of split sheepskin, tanned by immersion in sumac, and dyed. It is used for hat linings, pocketbooks, bookbinding, etc. Sumac is a vegetable tanning material obtained from the dried leaves of certain species of Rhus.
- ** Sod Oil is a mixture of cod oil and the grease expressed from sheep skins.
- *** Split is a single thickness of a split hide.
