1909 Kite Flying Association formed and, shortly after an exhibition at Olympia where model aircraft were shown, its name was changed to the Kite and Model Aeroplane Association.
In 1921 this association was replaced by the London Aeromodellers Association which, a year later, changed its name to the Society of Model Aeronautical Engineers.
