1902 The company was registered on 1 July, as the Champion Channelling Machines to purchase various patents connected with a coal-cutting machine for Great Britain, while the patents for the United States of America, Canada, South Africa, British India, Belgium, Austria and Hungary, and various other countries have since been acquired. [1]

1905 The name was changed.
