1872 'The Ince Hall Rolling Mills Co., Limited, Wigan. — On New Year's Day this company started their works for the manufacture of rolled iron. The first bar was rolled out by Mr. David Harrison, the manager, who is one of the principal shareholders of the company. These works in a short time will be turning out 200 to 300 tons per week of tees, angles, and bars. The soil on which these works are built was only broken on August 14, 1871, and the progress since made is entirely owing to the manager and secretary.' [1]
