It appears that George Richards (2), an American engineer specialising in woodworking machinery, established the Manchester company, before it became George Richards and Co under the control of his son, George [1]

Address: 3 Bank Street, Exchange. There is a separate entry for George Richards and Co, engineers and manufacturers of wood cutting machinery, City Road, Hulme. The home address of Edward Atkinson, engineer (Richards & Atkinson) is given as 4 Richmond Hill, Bowdon
