HENRY WATSON WILLIAMS, after a four years' apprenticeship with the Bristol Wagon Works Company and a concurrent course of instruction at Bristol University College, went to New South Wales to erect mining machinery in 1886 and spent most of the remainder of his life in Australia.
In 1887 he became a draughtsman in the locomotive department of the New Zealand Government Railways, and later was for five years designer of rolling stock for the Victorian Railways.
He also travelled in England, Egypt, India and the Colonies, and gained a very wide experience of rolling stock.
Proceeding to Western Australia, he represented for many years Messrs. Thomas Firth and Sons, subsequently relinquishing that agency and taking over the agency for Messrs. Cammell, Laird and Company.
He died on 3rd May 1927, at the age of 64 years.
He became an Associate Member of the Institution in 1895 and a Member in 1900.
