in Blaenavon, near Newport, Gwent

This is a historically significant iron bridge, built in 1812 to carry a tramway. It was subsequently used by pedestrians going between Blaenavon town and Forgeside. Deterioration led to ad hoc repairs, and it was eventually listed as 'Endangered' by UNESCO. It had recently been extensively and discretely rebuilt, the original cast iron members being retained.

In comparison with, say, Draethen Iron Bridge, it will be seen that the cast iron arches are shallow and very thin.
