SEPTIMUS FREDERICK GROOME had been associated with the firm of Messrs. W. H. Allen Sons and Company practically throughout his career, having completed forty-six years' service.
He was born in London in 1866 and completed his education at King's College.
In 1884 he commenced his apprenticeship with Messrs. A. Dashwood and Company of Wimbledon, and in 1889 became an assistant in the drawing office of Messrs. Allen's works in London. He was also for a time assistant in the testing department. When his company transferred their works to Bedford, Mr. Grooms was appointed chief of the electrical engineering drawing office. In later years he devoted much attention to the welfare of pupils and apprentices at the works.
Mr. Groome was elected a Member of the Institution in 1920 and his death occurred on 10th January 1932, in his sixty-seventh year.
