Robert Harold Giblett (1889-1922)

Robert Harold Giblett was born in 1889 and was educated at Bedford Grammar School, Oxford, Luton Technical Institute and Regent Street Polytechnic.
He was apprenticed to Hayward, Tyler & Co., Hydraulic Engineers, Luton, from 1905 to 1909, and subsequently served for a short time in the shops of Commercial Cars, Ltd.
He then entered the drawing office of D. Napier & Sons, Ltd., and in 1910 joined Vauxhall Motors, Ltd., as Confidential Draughtsman.
During the war he served with distinction in the Mechanical Transport, was awarded the O.B.E. and was twice mentioned in despatches.
His journalistic work was well known, and for some time after the war he held an appointment on the regular staff of Temple Press.
He died on April 25th, 1922, from the effects of war service.
He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1912.
