ALBAN GEORGE ROBINS was born at Bishopstone, Herefordshire, in 1865, and educated at Marlborough College. He subsequently studied at Koenigsfeld, Baden, and at the Château Prangins, Nyon, Switzerland.
In 1882 he became an apprentice at the Hydraulic Engineering Company, Chester, and served in the works and drawing office until 1886. He was then engaged by that firm on the erection of hydraulic plant at Waverley Station, Edinburgh, and of hydraulic lifts in London.
In 1889 he was employed on electrical installation work and in 1895 joined Messrs. Logan and Hemingway, contractors for the northern section of the Great Central Railway extension to London.
He later joined Mr. W. O. Rooper as partner in a firm of electrical engineers, trading as Messrs. W. O. Rooper and Robins, of Stafford and Chester.

He died on 27th November 1933.
He was elected a Member of the Institution in 1902.
