MAURICE ARTHUR WOOD was for twenty-five years chief engineer to the British-American Tobacco Company, Ltd. He was responsible for the design, erection, and equipment of a very large number of factories and power houses for the firm in all parts of the world. In connexion with his duties he visited the United States, Canada, Java, and China.
Mr. Wood was born at Croydon in 1881 and was educated at Weymouth College and the Central Technical College (now the City and Guilds Engineering College), South Kensington, gaining a diploma in electrical engineering in 1900.
