JOHN ARTHUR THOMAS CRUMP received his general education at King's School, Chester, and his theoretical training at Oldham Technical College.
He served an apprenticeship with Platt Brothers and Company, Ltd., from 1915 to 1920. This was, however, interrupted by two years' war service in the Royal Naval Air Service.
