THOMAS ALEXANDER NORRIS JENKINS was born in 1881 and served an apprenticeship in the locomotive, carriage, and wagon works of the Rhymney Railway from 1895 to 1902.
He was then employed as an erector to the Cape Copper Company in Namaqualand, South Africa, and later acted as assistant to the locomotive superintendent.
After serving at sea as a marine engineer from 1907 to 1913 he went to Peru where he spent the rest of his life.
