EDMUND CHARLES HOPKINS was formerly chairman and managing director of G. Hopkins and Sons, Ltd., London, general and electrical engineers, and had been associated with the firm since 1891, until his retirement in 1948.
He served an apprenticeship with Yarrow and Company, Ltd., from 1884 to 1889, and shortly afterwards was appointed superintendent of works for G. Hopkins and Sons. In this capacity he was responsible for the design and erection of complete plants for breweries and other industrial concerns.
He was admitted to partnership in 1902 and became chairman in 1920.
Mr. Hopkins, whose death in his eighty-third year occurred on 5th April 1952, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1906 and transferred to Membership in 1920. He was also an Associate Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers.
