William Cecil Whalley (1893-1944)

William Cecil Whalley was born in 1893 and educated at Manchester Grammar School and Victoria University, Manchester.
Following his engineering training with the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company, he served in the Royal Engineers from 1914 to 1919.
After the war he worked for a time with the J. D. Insulating and Refrigerating Company, and in 1923 became Manager and Engineer of Waterloo-Crosby Motor Services, Ltd.
Four years later he became Manager of Manx Motors, Ltd., Douglas, and in 1929 Motor Bus Superintendent of Manchester Corporation Transport. From 1938 onwards he was Rolling Stock Superintendent of the Corporation.
He died on 25th January, 1944.
He was elected a Member in 1939.
