Hipsley and Co., subsequently known as Hipsleys Ltd., being appointed Managing Director in 1920. This firm, which is well known throughout New South Wales, is engaged in the manufacture of automobile components of all kinds. He was regarded as one of the foremost automobile engineers in N.S.W., and for a time was President of The Metal Trades Employers' Federation. | |||

William Burton Hipsley was born in 1878 and received his technical education at The Sydney Technical College, N.S.W.
His apprenticeship was served with C. F. G. Kopsch, scientific instrument maker, and on its completion he commenced in business as W. B. Hipsley and Co., subsequently known as Hipsleys Ltd., being appointed Managing Director in 1920. This firm, which is well known throughout New South Wales, is engaged in the manufacture of automobile components of all kinds. He was regarded as one of the foremost automobile engineers in N.S.W., and for a time was President of The Metal Trades Employers' Federation.
He died on 7th April, 1938, at the age of 59. He was elected a Member in 1935.
