Sir Edward Herbert, O.B.E. (Member), died on 28th. April at the age of 71. He had spent most of his life in the aircraft industry, finally becoming chairman of Short Brothers and Harland Ltd. Among his many interests Sir Edward included work for educational bodies.
In 1952 he was made a member of the Court of Nottingham University and in 1953 he served on the Grand Council of the Federation of British Industries.
