"HERBERT CARR-WALKER was the founder and chairman of Yorkshire Engineering Supplies, Ltd., Wortley, Leeds, brassfounders, and had been head of the firm for forty-one years. After completing his education at Harrogate College and Leeds University he began an apprenticeship with S. Dixon and Son, Ltd., Leeds, and subsequently was placed in charge of the entire works; he was elected to the board of directors in 1903. Five years later he established the business at Hunslet, moving to new premises at Wortley in 1916, and under his direction this grew from quite a small concern to its present large and important dimensions.
