"EDWARD HENRY VAN MEETEREN was in the service of the City of Birmingham Electricity Department throughout his professional career, including his apprenticeship from 1923 to 1929. He was born in 1907 and received his theoretical training in engineering at the Central Technical College in Birmingham. He was first employed in the City of Birmingham Electric Supply Department, as assistant to the resident engineer on the site for the construction of Hams Hall generating station. A few months later he was transferred to the Nechells power station, where he was employed in a similar capacity with responsibility to the combustion engineer for the operation of the pulverized fuel plant, and had control of the operators and stokers. Since 1931 he had occupied the position of technical engineer in the generation department until his untimely death which occurred on 25th December 1950. Mr. van Meeteren was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1934 and transferred to Associate Membership in 1938. "EDWARD HENRY VAN MEETEREN was in the service of the City of Birmingham Electricity Department throughout his professional career, including his apprenticeship from 1923 to 1929. He was born in 1907 and received his theoretical training in engineering at the Central Technical College in Birmingham.
