"WILLIAM ALFRED BENNETT, who was born in 1867, served his apprenticeship in the shops and drawing office of the [[Lilleshall Co|Lilleshall Company, Ltd.]], Oakengates, engineers, from 1882 to 1889. He then joined [[Tangyes|Tangyes, Ltd.]], Birmingham, engineers, where he was engaged as leading draughtsman for many years. He had wide experience of the design of steam engines and pumping machinery for waterworks, draining, and dockyards. After 1935 he was for some years technical representative of [[Pump Unit|Pump Unit, Ltd.]], and other firms, and was also in charge of the training of engineering pupils. Mr. Bennett had been an Associate Member of the Institution since 1919. His death occurred on 20th April 1951."

"WILLIAM ALFRED BENNETT, who was born in 1867, served his apprenticeship in the shops and drawing office of the Lilleshall Company, Ltd., Oakengates, engineers, from 1882 to 1889. He then joined Tangyes, Ltd., Birmingham, engineers, where he was engaged as leading draughtsman for many years. He had wide experience of the design of steam engines and pumping machinery for waterworks, draining, and dockyards. After 1935 he was for some years technical representative of Pump Unit, Ltd., and other firms, and was also in charge of the training of engineering pupils. Mr. Bennett had been an Associate Member of the Institution since 1919. His death occurred on 20th April 1951."
