"FREDERICK ALBERT BIRCHER, whose untimely death occurred as the result of a motor accident on 28th September 1951, at the early age of forty-two, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1941. He was educated at Acton Technical School and served an apprenticeship from 1925 to 1930 with the [[Power Plant Co|Power Plant Company, Ltd]]., West Drayton, Middlesex, where he continued as a tool designer for a further five years. He then secured a post as draughtsman to [[C. J. Fitzpatrick and Co|C. J. Fitzpatrick and Company, Ltd]]., Acton, where he remained until 1946 when he became senior mechanical draughtsman to [[B. and P. Swift|B. and P. Swift, Ltd]]., engineers. "FREDERICK ALBERT BIRCHER, whose untimely death occurred as the result of a motor accident on 28th September 1951, at the early age of forty-two, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1941.
