"FRANCIS GREVILLE PRIDEAUX spent almost the whole of his professional career in the service of the [[Great Southern and Western Railway of Ireland]]. He was born in 1875 and educated at Blundell's School, Tiverton, and the Merchant Venturers' Technical College in Bristol. His apprenticeship was served with [[Fielding and Platt|Fielding and Platt, Ltd]]., Gloucester, general engineers, from 1893 to 1897, in the employment of which he continued as a junior draughtsman for a further six months. On the conclusion of a brief engagement in a similar capacity with [[Summers and Scott|Messrs. Summers and Scott]], engineers, of the same city, he took up an appointment as assistant engineer to [[Benjamin Baker|Sir Benjamin Baker]] and was employed on the construction of the [[Waterford and Rosslare Railway]]. In 1902 he was appointed assistant to the chief engineer of the [[Great Southern and Western Railway]] and held this position until 1916 when he became stores superintendent. He relinquished this appointment in 1930 on account of ill health. Mr. Prideaux, whose death occurred in January 1950, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1904." | |||

"FRANCIS GREVILLE PRIDEAUX spent almost the whole of his professional career in the service of the Great Southern and Western Railway of Ireland. He was born in 1875 and educated at Blundell's School, Tiverton, and the Merchant Venturers' Technical College in Bristol.
