"IVAN ROBERT SEWELL, B.Sc., was educated at Leeds College of Technology and [[University of Leeds|Leeds University]], where he graduated B.Sc. in 1940. His apprenticeship was served between 1929 and 1940 with [[Shaw Dale and Co]], Leeds, electrical engineers; [[Mains Radio Gramophone|Mains Radio-Grams, Ltd]]., Bradford, and with various other firms during his college vacations. He was appointed lecturer in electrical engineering at Leeds College of Technology in 1940 and after holding this position for seven years became lecturer in the same subject at Handsworth Technical College, Birmingham. He was made senior assistant in the engineering department in 1948 and later was placed in charge of the department of electrical engineering. Mr. Sewell, whose brief but promising career was terminated by an accident on 2nd September 1951 at the early age of thirty-seven, was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1950. "IVAN ROBERT SEWELL, B.Sc., was educated at Leeds College of Technology and Leeds University, where he graduated B.Sc. in 1940.
