"CHRISTOPHER EDWIN ARTHUR HEWITSON MALLEY who was born in Liverpool in 1872, spent twenty-seven years of his career in the service of the City's Corporation as mechanical and electrical assistant to the water engineer. He was educated at Stoneycroft School and Liverpool School of Science and Technology. He served an apprenticeship between 1886 and 1892 with [[George Forrester and Co|George Forrester and Company, Ltd]]., Vauxhall Foundry, Liverpool, and at the Atlantic Engine Works, Bootle. After holding the position of millwright in charge of hydraulic machinery for the [[Mersey Docks and Harbour Board]] for five years he joined [[Ferranti|Ferranti, Ltd]]., electrical engineers, Hollingwood, where he was employed first as outside foreman erector, later as district and finally as chief outside superintendent. 470 M E M From 1906 to 1911 he was a technical assistant with [[Mather and Platt|Mather and Platt, Ltd]]., Manchester, before beginning his long service with the Liverpool Corporation, from which he retired in 1937.
