"AUGUSTINE MELLIAR WARD, whose death in his eighty-first year occurred on 20th January 1952, was associated with the paper making industry throughout his career. He received his general education at Denstone College, Staffordshire. He began an apprenticeship in 1888 at the paper mills of Olive and Partington, Ltd., Glossop, and continued with the firm as foreman. From 1899 to 1907 he was manager of the London Paper Mills, Dartford, Kent.
