VICTOR ALEXANDER MATTICK was appointed manager of the Westinghouse Division of the [[Lightfoot Refrigeration Co|Lightfoot Refrigeration Company, Ltd.]], in 1937. He was born at Bearfield, Bradford-on-Avon, and served his apprenticeship from 1904 to 1908 with [[Saxby and Farmer|Messrs. Saxby and Farmer, Ltd.]], signalling engineers, of Chippenham. After further experience in the firm's drawing office, he went to Buenos Aires as engineer in charge of outdoor signal construction on the Buenos Aires and Pacific Railway.


He supervised the resignalling necessitated by the doubling of the main line from Mercedes to Chacabuco. In 1910 he was made assistant signal superintendent. He returned to England during the War, and in 1916 was appointed inspecting officer to the [[Ministry of Munitions]]. Four years later he joined [[Arnott and Harrison|Messrs. Arnott and Harrison, Ltd.]], manufacturing engineers, London, as director and general manager, and in 1925 he became sales supervisor to [[W. and T. Avery|Messrs. W. and T. Avery, Ltd.]], Birmingham; subsequently he was appointed director and sales manager of [[Parnall and Sons|Messrs. Parnall and Sons, Ltd.]], a Bristol firm controlled by Messrs. Avery. Mr. Mattick joined [[John Shaw and Sons|Messrs. John Shaw and Sons (Wolverhampton), Ltd.]], makers of tools and domestic electric appliances, in 1928, as general manager, and was connected with the firm for nine years.
He was made a director in 1931 and he was also a director of two subsidiary companies, [[James F. Low and Co|Messrs. James F. Low and Company, Ltd.]], manufacturers of jute machinery, of Monifieth, and [[T. E. Thomson and Co|Messrs. T. E. Thomson and Company, Ltd.]], engineers, of Calcutta.
Mr. Mattick, who was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1913, and was transferred to Membership in 1933, died on 20th October 1938, in his fifty-first year.

VICTOR ALEXANDER MATTICK was appointed manager of the Westinghouse Division of the Lightfoot Refrigeration Company, Ltd., in 1937.
