"WILLIAM KIDD DAVIS, whose death, in his sixty-eighth year, occurred on 5th March 1950, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1921. After serving his time in the Inchicore works of the [[Great Southern and Western Railway]], from 1898 to 1902, he saw service with Longford's Horse in the South African War. On the conclusion of hostilities he was employed in the shops and drawing office of the [[Central South African Railways]] for three years, and for a brief period was running-shed engineer with the [[Natal Government Railways]] at Ladysmith. From 1906 to 1910 he served at sea as marine engineer in ships of the [[Elder Dempster Line]], rising from junior to senior second engineer. "WILLIAM KIDD DAVIS, whose death, in his sixty-eighth year, occurred on 5th March 1950, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1921.
