WILLIAM DRONSFIELD, who was elected a Member of the Institution in 1896, died on 21st December 1939, at the great age of 93. At an early age he entered his father's firm, Messrs. Dronsfield Brothers, makers of textile machinery, Atlas Works, Oldham, and served seven years apprenticeship in the shops. He became a partner in 1867 and was later made acting managing partner of the Atlas Works, and was associated with that firm for the whole of his professional career.
He held the position of chairman up to the time of his death, and regularly attended the meetings.
