"GEORGE SMILLIE, who was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1937, was the general manager of Messrs. Hydrautomat, Ltd., Westminster, makers of equipment for water supply systems. He was educated at the Queen's Park School, Glasgow, and the Alloa Technical School.
After serving his time as an engine fitter with Messrs. G. and J. Weir, Ltd., Glasgow, from 1917 to 1922, he gained further experience as junior draughtsman to the British Electric Plant Co, Alloa.
