Lieut. (E.) MICHAEL LOGAN EDGAR lost his life on 5th April 1942 when HMS Cornwall was sunk off Ceylon by enemy action. He was born in 1910 and received his technical education at the Manchester School of Technology.
In 1927 he entered the firm of Messrs. Rylands, wire manufacturers, where he received his practical training, and was appointed assistant departmental manager in 1935, a position which he held until he joined the Royal Navy as a sub-lieutenant, R.N.V.R., in 1940. In December of the same year he was promoted to be lieutenant R.N. while serving abroad.
Lieutenant Edgar was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1931 and was transferred to Associate Membership in 1938.
