"ROBERT GOSBY WOOD, whose death in his eightieth year occurred in Glasgow on 31st March 1950, was elected a Member of the Institution in 1905. He obtained his practical training in the marine engineering works of Messrs. Caird and Company, Ltd., Greenock, from 1888 to 1893, in whose employment he continued as a draughtsman for a further six years.
He then went to Belfast to join the staff of Messrs. Workman, Clark and Company, Ltd., engineers and shipbuilders, as assistant chief draughtsman, with whom he remained until 1902.
