He was educated at St. Alban's School, the Strand School, King's College, London, and the Manchester Municipal College of Technology. "Major ARNOLD CLEAR was a locomotive engineer throughout his professional career. He was educated at St. Alban's School, the Strand School, King's College, London, and the Manchester Municipal College of Technology. After serving his time in the Gorton Works of the Great Central Railway from 1911 to 1914 he received a commission in the 8th Battalion of the Manchester Regiment and saw service in Gallipoli, Egypt, and Palestine.
