"WILLIAM ROLAND TEBBS, who lost his life from drowning on 23rd April 1947, at the early age of 28, was elected a Student of the Institution in 1937, was transferred to Graduateship in 1943, and to Associate Membership in 1945.
On the conclusion of a five years' apprenticeship with Messrs. Head Wrightson and Company, Ltd., of Stockton-on-Tees, in 1939, he joined H.M. Forces and after a period of training at the School of Survey was posted to the 2nd Survey Regiment, Royal Artillery.
