ELWIN CECIL MOLONY spent the whole of his professional career in India. He was born in 1894 and served his apprenticeship from 1909 to 1915 in the [[North Western Railway]] locomotive works at Lahore and Moghalpura, and concurrently attended classes in the railway company's technical school. His first employment was as journeyman millwright in the locomotive works at Moghalpura. He was then made head draughtsman in the same department, subsequently becoming assistant chief draughtsman with responsibility for the design of new works, locomotives, and other material. During this period he also acted as assistant master in the Company's technical school for apprentices.
In 1920 he accepted an appointment as principal of the Victoria Diamond Jubilee Hindu Technical Institute at Lahore, but after occupying this position for seven years he went into business on his own account as a consulting engineer in the same city and also established an engineering works, the output of which included steel structural work for the Government of India and public utility companies.
Mr. Molony whose death occurred on 15th February 1941, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1936.

ELWIN CECIL MOLONY spent the whole of his professional career in India.
