"ERNEST HOLMES LLEWELYN DICKSON was for nearly thirty years the deputy borough electrical engineer to the Salford Corporation, having held that appointment since 1910 until his retirement in 1939. On the completion of his general education at King William's College, Isle of Man, he was articled in 1892 to the late [[G. Wilkinson|Mr. G. Wilkinson]] borough electrical engineer, of Harrogate, and two years later entered the works of [[C. A. Parsons and Co|Messrs. C. A. Parsons and Company, Ltd]]., Newcastle upon Tyne, where he gained further technical training and practical experience in the shops and drawing office for another year. He then obtained his first employment as charge engineer in the electricity department of Cheltenham Corporation, where he remained until in 1901, as clerk of the works, he began his long association with the City of Salford. A year later he was made mains engineer, a position he retained until 1910 when he entered upon his final appointment. Mr. Dickson was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1912, and was also an Associate Member of the [[Institution of Electrical Engineers]]. His death occurred in Manchester on 5th September 1947, in his seventy-third year." | |||

"ERNEST HOLMES LLEWELYN DICKSON was for nearly thirty years the deputy borough electrical engineer to the Salford Corporation, having held that appointment since 1910 until his retirement in 1939.
