"ROBERT KNIGHT DERBYSHIRE was associated with the Lea Recorder Company, Ltd., meter manufacturers, of Manchester, for thirty-three years. He was educated at the Royal Technical College, Salford, and served his apprenticeship with Messrs. James Broughton and Company, Ltd., engineers, of Manchester, from 1901 to 1908.
After acting as draughtsman and assistant to Mr. J. E. Lea, M.I.Mech.E., consulting engineer, for two years, he was for a brief period senior draughtsman to Messrs. Mather and Platt, Ltd., of Manchester. His next appointment was that of draughtsman and assistant engineer to the Bradford Dyers' Association, Ltd., which he held until he began, in 1914, his long connection with the Lea Recorder Company with the post of salesman and technical assistant.
