"JOHN PARKIN was works manager and chief engineer to Messrs. Forsters' Glass Company, Ltd., of St. Helens, Lancashire, with the charge of over 2,000 employees. He was educated at the Royal Technical College, Salford, and served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Mather and Platt, Ltd., in Manchester, from 1918 to 1923, in whose employment he continued as a draughtsman for a further five years.
