"SAMUEL ATHRON was born in 1896 and served his apprenticeship from 1912 to 1917 at the Pagefield Ironworks of [[Walker Brothers|Messrs. Walker Brothers]], Wigan. At the same time he attended classes in mechanical engineering at the Wigan Mining and Technical College. "SAMUEL ATHRON was born in 1896 and served his apprenticeship from 1912 to 1917 at the Pagefield Ironworks of Messrs. Walker Brothers, Wigan. At the same time he attended classes in mechanical engineering at the Wigan Mining and Technical College.
