"FRANCIS RANDS WEBB, whose death occurred on 4th August 1945, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1922. He was born in 1888 and served his apprenticeship at the [[East Ferry Road Engineering Works Co|East Ferry Road Engineering Works Company, Ltd]]., London, from 1906 to 1910, and concurrently attended classes at the West Ham Technical Institute. On the completion of his apprenticeship he continued in the service of the same firm as a draughtsman until 1914, when he joined H.M. Forces and, after serving with a Territorial infantry battalion in France, was gazetted lieutenant in the Royal Tank Corps. On demobilization in 1919 he resumed his duties as draughtsman at the East Ferry Road Works. Three years later he joined the staff of the London County Council, in whose service he continued for over twenty years, during which period he was closely concerned with the maintenance of plant at the main drainage stations and specialized in the design and installation of equipment for the disposal of sewage. In 1943 his services were lent by the London County Council to the Ministry of Supply and, as an inspector of electrical and mechanical equipment, he was responsible for the inspection of Bailey Bridge equipment and transportation bridges." | |||

"FRANCIS RANDS WEBB, whose death occurred on 4th August 1945, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1922.
