ROBERT THOMSON, whose untimely death occurred on 20th May 1945 at the age of thirty-seven, received his education at George Heriot's School and at Heriot Watt College, Edinburgh. On the termination of a five years' apprenticeship with Messrs. Bruce Pebbles and Company, in 1928, he proceeded to India to take up an appointment as engineer to Messrs.
