WILLIAM CHORLEY HARDING, who was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1920, was associated with the Pearson and Knowles Engineering Company, of Warrington, throughout his professional career, including his apprenticeship from 1905 to 1911, and for many years was closely connected with the Warrington Technical Institute as lecturer and latterly as head of the engineering department.
He was born in 1890, and received his technical education at Victoria University, Manchester. On the conclusion of his apprenticeship he joined the staff as assistant engineer. Subsequently he took over managerial duties, and acted as technical assistant to the managing director, being closely concerned with blast furnace, steelworks, and colliery plant. Latterly he had acted as chief estimator.
