CHARLES FREDERICK MOUNTNEY had considerable experience in the drawing offices of various engineering firms in the course of his career, and since 1919 had acted as chief drawing office instructor at the Merchant Venturers' College, Bristol.
He was born in 1885, and received his technical education at the Rutherford and Armstrong Colleges, Newcastle upon Tyne. After serving his apprenticeship with Messrs. Clarke, Chapman and Company, Ltd., of Gateshead, from 1900 to 1906, he continued in their employment as draughtsman for a further four years.
