CARL RICHTER was born in 1828. After filling several important mining and metallurgical posts, he was appointed in 1871 general manager of the Vereinigte Kemigsand Laurahiitte, at the head of which large undertaking he remained until his death. By his energy and technical skill he brought these works to be amongst the most important in Germany.
