CHARLES HERBERT, who was the manager of the Mannesmann Tube Works, Landore, met with a terrible and sad death on Sunday, June 5, 1898. While walking over a bridge which connects the two sections of the works on both sides of the river, towards Plasmarl, by some means he fell into the river. The tide was out, and the slag in the river bed was exposed. He fell about thirty feet, and his head struck on a sharp hard substance, death being instantaneous. He was a native of Middlesbrough, and forty-four years of age. He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1897. | |||

CHARLES HERBERT, who was the manager of the Mannesmann Tube Works, Landore, met with a terrible and sad death on Sunday, June 5, 1898. While walking over a bridge which connects the two sections of the works on both sides of the river, towards Plasmarl, by some means he fell into the river.
